DLC cars to be purchaseable in game

"We’re planning an another update for GT5 in December. In that update users who purchased cars and tracks from the DLC already, can receive a free “family upgrade” in the PS Store, which will let all users in the same PS console use the DLC.
People who bought the DLC cars will have those cars added to the dealers in the December update.
After this December update you can purchase a second car and so on from the dealer."

9th Annual Gran Turismo Awards Call for Entries

Do you think your car has what it takes to be immortalized digitally in Gran Turismo? PlayStation is back once again at the SEMA auto show, looking for the absolute best and most beautiful vehicles on display. If you think you have the hottest ride at the show, it just might become part of the most famous videogame racing series available.
If you’re a fan or car enthusiast with a vehicle on display at SEMA, we want you to enter it here for a chance to be judged by Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi. If Yamauchi-san selects your vehicle, it will be reproduced digitally and included in a future edition of Gran Turismo, the most realistic racing simulator ever created.
Think you’re worthy? Enter for your chance at glory.
Registration: http://us.playstation.com/psn/events/granturismoawards.html

Each year at SEMA in Las Vegas, Sony hosts the “Gran Turismo Awards” – a competition with one very important judge (Kazunori Yamauchi), who selects a car on display at the show for inclusion in a GT game.
The Awards have brought some interesting color and variety to car lists over the years, including Art Morrison’s 1960 Corvette and the late JR Rocha’s heavily-customized Infiniti G37, and it’s now time to add another car to GT‘s roster.
If you’re presenting a car at SEMA 2011 (or know someone who is), fill out the official entry form and Kazunori will come calling. The winner will be revealed at the Awards party on November 3, 2011.
For the rest of us wondering when we’ll get to virtually thrash the eventual winner, Sony’s entry form offers some conflicting clues. The form’s main page claims the winner will be included in a “future edition of Gran Turismo“, while the official rules clearly state ”the winner’s vehicle will be digitally recreated and will appear in Gran Turismo 5 for the PlayStation 3 system.
” As usual, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Good luck to all entrants, and thanks to all of you who sent this in!

The track will remain a secret until the contest begins to give everyone (including Coulthard!) a fair chance.
Meanwhile, at Mercedes-Benz World in Brooklands, England, 24 prize draw winners will be battling to qualify for their place in the competition. Those who set the top six qualifying times will compete against Coulthard in real time at the flagship venue where visitors are welcome to come and watch the action for themselves. The contestant from Mercedes-Benz World that sets the fastest lap will win an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2011 Brazilian F1 Grand Prix.
Video of the event will be streamed live on Monday, right on GTPlanet, starting at 14:00 UTC/GMT (convert this to your local time).

GT5 Update 1.11, Jeff Gordon NASCAR Seasonal Event

The latest version of Gran Turismo 5, 1.11, is now available as a free download, weighing in at 62MB. As Kazunori Yamauchi previously announced, this minor update is focused on fixing bugs and glitches within the game, with more “features and content” expected to arrive in the next few months.

v1.11 also brings a new NASCAR Seasonal Event, featuring Jeff Gordon’s racing suit and helmet as a special prize.

GT5 Update Coming August 29th

As was suspected when Polyphony Digital announced GT5‘s online maintenance schedule earlier this week, Kazunori Yamauchi has now confirmed, via Twitter, the game’s next update should become available on August 29th/30th.

Following up with his previous remarks about v1.11, he wisely tempers expectations, reiterating the update will focus only on fixing software bugs within the game. New “features and content”, he says, will be arriving “in September and October”.That said, it is worth noting GT5‘s upcoming NASCAR Seasonal Event, featuring Jeff Gordon’s racing suit and helmet, is still scheduled to go live along with v1.11.

Kazunori has also hinted that he’s considering posting tweets in English, which would certainly be very welcome move by many of his non-Japanese-speaking followers and may help reduce the chance of mis-information spreading due to bungled translations.

1960 Plymouth XNR Ghia Roadster wins Gran Turismo Trophy at Pebble Beach 2011

At the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance yesterday, Kazunori Yamauchi awarded this year’s Gran Turismo Trophy to a head-turning 1960 Plymouth GNR Ghia Roadster concept car.

Created by influential car designer Virgil Exner (hence the concept’s name), it was intended to preview the direction of Chrysler’s designs in the 1970′s. It had enough muscle to back up its dramatic, asymmetrical look, producing 250 horsepower from a Valiant’s 225 Slant Six (more details on the car are available here).

Audi R8 LMS GT5 Simulator at Gamescom 2011

Though Gamescom 2011 wasn’t nearly as exciting for GT fans as it was last year, Sony and Audi did use the event to launch an impressive new GT5 simulator built around an R8 LMS race car, similar to the one found in the game.
As you can see in the videos below, the R8 sits upon a pneumatic suspension that moves the chassis in response to what’s occurring on-screen. With the exception of a slightly modified roll-cage, the authentic interior features functional gauges, a real R8 LMS steering wheel, bucket racing seats, and a Dolby Digital sound system.

    Yoshida Talk About Gran Turismo

Talking about the Japanese developer, Polyphony Digital, Yoshida revealed that it will be a few years before we see GT6, as Kazonuri Yamauchi and his team is currently working on some updates for GT5 and will move on to designing the next project soon.
“As far as the Gran Turismo team’s concerned, they are still working on updating the games, so they’re just shifting to the designing and concepting phase of the next project. It’s going to take a few years.”

Endurance Save Feature On The Way

Polyphony Digital CEO and  GT5 Producer, Kazunori Yamauchi, has confirmed through a  little message that the game’s endurance modes are finally going to get the mid-race save feature fans have been begging for.
    From: http://gamerant.com/gran-turismo-5-endurance-race-saves-seb-71024/

Kaz Yamauchi responded while retweeting a complaint about Gran Turismo 5′s endurance mode:

I’m sorry. Game saves during endurances. They are currently under development. RT
@andrepeniche: as I simply don’t have 4, 9 or even 24 hours available to stay in front of the TV to do endurance races, as much as I love GT5, unfortunately it’s not possible for me to complete them.
