Kazunori Yamauchi has selected a 1953 Aston Martin DB3S as the winner of
Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo Trophy at this year’s Pebble Beach
Concours d’Elegance.
Owned by historic motoring enthusiast Brian Classic
of Cheshire, England, his DBS3 is one of the 30 cars which played a
very important role in the development of Aston Martin’s international
racing efforts between 1953 and 1957. The car produces around 225HP from

A new update to Gran Turismo 5 is now available, version 2.12.
At just 24MB in size, the update appears to primarily address the
“hacked” or “hybrid” cars in the game. This is, of course, the second time action has been taken against users who “illicitly modified the game data” since Polyphony first started banning players who used the cars to compete in GT5‘s online Seasonal Events earlier this month. Polyphony Digital employees were recently spotted at L.M. Gianetti, a
high-end racing garage and engineering company based in Turin, Italy. L.M. Gianetti’s garage is home to some very special cars, including the Ferrari P4/5 Competizione,
Martini Racing’s Lancia Delta HF Integrale, and the Alfa Romeo 155
Touring Car – a car that’s been very popular with Gran Turismo fans
since it first appeared in Gran Turismo 2. The Polyphony Digital team can be seen collecting data in photographs posted yesterday on L.M. Gianetti’s Facebook page. Curiously, the gallery has been titled “SCANSIONE PER GRAN TURISMO PS4″, which translates to “Scanning for Gran Turismo PS4″.

Comments made by Sony’s Computer Entertianment Europe’s Senior Vice
President Michael Denny have been gathering quite a bit of attention
over the last 24 hours, and for good reason. In an interview with Silicon Republic, he casually suggests that Gran Turismo 6 will be released on the PlayStation 3 console:
“Look at the games coming out on the PlayStation 3 like The Last of
Us, Beyond: Two Souls, GT6, and then on the third-party side of things
another fantastic Assassin’s Creed, GTA,” Denny listed. “It’s important
for our content to have that kind of longevity because, as I was saying
[about the PS Vita], the games that come through are going to get better
and better over time.”
It is worth noting the two first-party titles he mentioned in his comments: The Last of Us, and Beyond: Two Souls, have both been formally announced with confirmed release dates in 2013. A new, free update for Gran Turismo 5, version 2.11, is now available to download. Weighing in at 45MB, its most notable changes sees the restoration of
“old” Performance Point values, as they were in version 2.09 of the
game (the formula used to calculate the PP number was changed
significantly with the release of version 2.10 last month). Here’s a complete overview of the official change log as published by Polyphony Digital:
The performance point (PP) adjustments that were made in the 2.10
update has been cancelled, and returned to the calculation method in
2.09.
The automatically selected rain tire type has been adjusted. Please
note that this may change the normally recommended tire when entering
the pit, and the pit timings of opponent cars during races.
Adjusted the autopilot during changing road moisture conditions.
Corrected an issue where the game would not boot after the 2.10 update in some cases.

A new update is now available for Gran Turismo 5, version 2.10. Weighing in at 55MB, it contains the all-new 2014 Corvette Stingray, just announced with a dramatic new video trailer at the 2013 North American International Auto Show.

Steering wheel controller to improve steering feel. This improvement
